With so many options out there for checking your credit score how can you be sure you are getting the right one? On the Fair Trade Commission website (www.ftc.gov) you can pull a report to find reputable credit score companies. These reports do not include your credit score, but provide you the option to purchase it.
Another option to check your credit score is at www.annualcreditreport.com. You can obtain a copy of your credit report, once a year, from three of the top credit companies: Trans Union, Equifax and Experian.
Experts suggest for year round credit monitoring to pull your free credit report for one company, then 3-4 months later the second company, and 3-4 later the last company.
One thing to keep in mind when monitoring your credit is not all companies report to all three of these companies, so your credit score will vary slightly between them.
