Fun Fact:  The Red River Valley that Fargo sits on what used to be the glacial Lake Agassiz!

About Fargo: Fargo is located on the border of North Dakota and Minnesota along the Red River of the North. Formerly known as “Centralia”, the town was a stopping point for steam boats traveling along the Red River in the late 1800s. The town’s name was formally changed to “Fargo” when the Great Northern Pacific Railway was built, making Fargo the “Gateway to the West”. With a history of growth, Fargo continues that trend today and is the largest city in North Dakota with a little over 120,000 residents. It is a center for health care, education, retail, and culture for Eastern, ND and Northwestern, MN. Fargo is also home to North Dakota State University, one of the largest universities in North Dakota which was founded in 1890 as North Dakota’s only land-grant university. Today, NDSU is still a leader in education and landmark in the community and throughout the region.
