On March 23-25, the North Dakota Bankers Association was represented by seventeen North Dakota bankers who participated in the American Bankers Association Government Relations Summit in Washington, DC. Team members in attendance from Cornerstone Bank were Gary Petersen, Vaune Cripe and Ryan Grussing. The Summit included sessions specifically designed for emerging leaders, visits with the North Dakota Congressional delegation and high-level presentations by and with regulators, Congressional leaders and others. The most crucial part of the trip was meeting with Senators Hoeven and Heitkamp and Congressman Cramer to discuss how banks are affected by current regulations and the need for regulatory relief. Bankers were encouraged to share examples of how the requirements placed by current regulations can impede on the ability to serve customers in order to better help the delegation understand how they are affecting our local banks and customers.
